“Go find your brother, Jacix.”
“Yes, mother.”
Standing from the table, I didn’t even bother to push in my chair before walking down the hall to the door. Sliding on my shoes proved a bit easier than normal, a sign that my shoes were wearing out again. Fingers snagged my coat and threw it around my shoulders as my arms slid into sleeves and I departed out the front door. The door closed behind me and I glanced up into the sky to find the sun sinking towards the horizon.
